Johar Haat Goes Green: Artisans from 3 States Showcase Sustainable Craftsmanship

Jamshedpur, June 14, 2024: The June 2024 edition of Johar Haat, a Tata Steel Foundation initiative, kicked off today at Prakriti Vihar, Kadma, Jamshedpur. This week-long exhibition brings together over 20 entrepreneurs from three states – Jharkhand, Assam, and Karnataka – representing five different tribes.

Sustainability Takes Center Stage

The theme for this Johar Haat aligns perfectly with World Environment Day, celebrated earlier this month on June 5th. The focus is on showcasing sustainable handicrafts that combine creativity, traditional techniques, and eco-friendly materials.

Visitors can expect a vibrant display of handcrafted treasures, including intricate cane furniture, beautiful dry flower arrangements, and textiles woven by skilled tribal artisans. Workshops on cane craft making and tribal textiles will also be held during the Haat.
